Branksome parish map

The Parish of Branksome is situated on the North side of the Town of Poole in the County of Dorset which is to be found on the South coast of the United Kingdom.

The parish is a mix of late 19th and early and late 20th century housing but is bounded on the North East side by the Bourne Valley Nature Reserve.  We have two large Supermarkets (Tescos and Sainsburys) and a  Gas works. The main London - South Coast railway lines passes through the heart of the Parish.

We have a mix of different industries, from manufacturing to insurance and some large retail outlets dealing in furniture and DIY.

St.Aldhelm's Church serves circa 8000 people in the parish.

Officially St.Aldhelm's Church is for the parishioners of Branksome but we have many many regular members who travel from well outside the area. We actively encourage anybody who wants to come and share in the worship of God and Jesus within a friendly and forward looking Church.

If you want to know if you are within the Parish boundaries then either check the map out or look for the list of boundary roads listed below.

The Boundary Roads

"From Penn Hill Corner to North side of North Lodge Road to junction of Bournemouth Road, over and across East corner of Bournemouth Road to East side of Alexandra Road and Loch Road to junction of Ashley Road, South side of Ashley Road, over between Davis Road and Salvation Army Citadel, back of houses on South side of Douglas Road to junction of Alder Road, East of Alder Road including the old Alder road link near the Sainsburys Store, turn east at the Bourne Valley Stream, follow the stream across the Bourne Valley Nature Reserve, till the railway line, follow the railway line to where it crosses Gordon Road, east to the railway sidings, follows the railway line towards the County Borough boundary, over Princess Road and Poole Road to County Gates, North and West sides of Lindsay Road, North of Leicester Road to Penn Hill Corner."

It is interesting to note that road names in the area are not as "permanent" as you may think. Many present day roads have had their names changed since the early days of the Parish. Take a look at our History Page for more information.
